THE POLITICAL GODS OF KENYA

"Go back to your homes because there is nothing to fear. I have met President Kibaki alone without any other person and agreed that we forgive each other. I don't think the rest of you cannot forgive one another and still carry weapons to kill each other. No community is more special than the other, so allow your good neighbours to come back and enjoy the fruits of new leadership i am going to spearhead." This is a statement made by the Premier Minister Designate Raila Odinga on the 8th March 2008. This was part of the healing and reconciliation mission "the leaders" have embarked on following the announcement of power sharing agreement between him and President Mwai Kibaki. While i do welcome the initiative that restored peace and normalcy in the country, i have a problem with the reconciliation message advocated by the leaders especially PM Raila Odinga. Has he just realized that Kenya belong to every tribe and co-existence is paramount for existence the nation-state Kenya? Where was he when some of the Kenyans he now purports to represents where evicted and their properties looted and destroyed? It appears to me, after he has got what he bargain for, he has seen the need to embrace and recognize those who may have not voted for him to be brothers and sisters. Does it means when we went to the polls, we postpone the ideal of brotherhood and sisterhood and only later to realise we belong to the same geographical area after the violence and tension? What did the voters have to do with the disputed poll disputed and suffering that followed? The ODM leader had the chance to raise up as STATEMAN and prevent the damage and suffering by preaching harmony while a solution was found into the crisis. But no- he chose to issue statements... without actual trying to come his supporters and reminding them, they also belong here. Damage has been done. No amount of talk from him and ilk will undo the damage. Besides, it only those who think that these two men(Raila and Kibaki) are Gods are going to respond to the clarion call.

Justice is the only way out the recipients of the violence and suffering.
